In VoyaMate Settings, check the Privacy section to make sure automatic location detection is enabled. To detect border crossings while the app is closed, VoyaMate needs “Always” location access in iOS Settings. You can also add journeys manually at any time.

VoyaMate needs access to photos that contain a capture date and location. If you granted limited photo access, make sure the relevant photos are included. Analysis takes place entirely on your device; image contents are not uploaded.

Private iCloud sync is included in Expenses, Traveler and Explorer; Free stays entirely local. Enable iCloud Drive and make sure all devices use the same Apple Account. The “Sync with private iCloud” setting takes effect after VoyaMate has been fully restarted. If iCloud is unavailable, the app continues to work locally.

Open Settings and choose “iCloud & data backup” in the Privacy section. Select “Export data & files” to create a complete data archive; this feature is included in Traveler and Explorer. When private iCloud is active, VoyaMate saves it directly in the visible VoyaMate folder in iCloud Drive. Otherwise, you can enable iCloud or choose a destination for this archive yourself. To restore your data, VoyaMate uses the latest archive in the VoyaMate folder; first copy an archive saved elsewhere into that folder. VoyaMate merges its entries and preserves newer existing data. Identity documents and their numbers are excluded.

Enable “Protect data archives with a password” under “iCloud & data backup”. VoyaMate can store the password in iCloud Keychain. With iCloud Keychain enabled, Apple synchronizes it between your trusted devices with end-to-end encryption. When you open a protected archive, you can use this password or enter another one. The archive cannot be restored without the correct password. You can delete the saved archive password from the same screen; existing archives remain protected. Password protection does not automatically apply to regular PDF, CSV or Excel expense exports.

Open a journey and choose “Export travel expenses”, or start a date-range export in Settings. You can include business, personal or all expenses and export them as PDF, CSV or Excel. Under “iCloud & data backup”, selected formats can also be saved in the visible “Export Expenses” folder in iCloud Drive. Automatic iCloud export keeps either a complete Excel or CSV file up to date.

If the airline supports sharing, open the boarding pass in Wallet and send it to VoyaMate using Share. You can alternatively select an existing .pkpass file. The copy is stored with the journey in VoyaMate’s protected app area; VoyaMate does not modify the boarding pass in Wallet.

VoyaMate reads the machine-readable zone on passports, identity cards and residence permits, or selected fields on a card-format driving licence, directly on your device. The camera image is discarded after recognition and is not kept as a document copy. Document details remain local; an optional document number stays exclusively in the Keychain of that device and is shown only after device authentication.

Every travel film is built individually from the selected period, detected stops and transport modes directly on your device. More stops can increase creation and playback time. CPU and energy use may temporarily rise and the device may become warmer. Keep VoyaMate in the foreground when possible and connect the device to power for long films. Routes and travel data are not uploaded to a VoyaMate server for film creation.

Distances are approximate straight-line distances between the detected stops. Actual flight, road, rail or sea routes may differ. If no separate transport mode was saved for a return home, VoyaMate checks on your device which mode is plausible; very long return legs are shown as flights, for example.

You can delete journeys, expenses, documents and saved places from their respective views. When you delete an identity document, VoyaMate also removes its number from the local Keychain. Delete the saved archive password under “iCloud & data backup”. Data archives and expense exports in iCloud Drive must be deleted there; CloudKit data can also be managed through your Apple Account’s iCloud storage settings. Delete Keychain data in the app before removing VoyaMate from the device.
