Not compatible: Models without a LiDAR scanner, including base, Plus, Air and SE iPhones as well as iPad, iPad mini and iPad Air. Future devices are compatible when Apple equips them with LiDAR and they support the required system version.

Frequently asked questions

The room scan does not start
Check whether your device is listed as compatible. Then allow camera access for FormaMate in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. RoomPlan is not available in the iOS Simulator or on devices without LiDAR.
How do I get the most complete scan possible?
Use even lighting, clean the camera and LiDAR sensor and move slowly along the walls. Capture corners, doors and windows from several angles. Mirrors, glass, very dark surfaces as well as moving people or animals can affect the result.
Which files can FormaMate export?
Planned formats include PDF room reports as well as USDZ, OBJ, STL, glTF, DAE/Collada, DXF and RoomPlan JSON. FBX is not generated locally on iPhone or iPad because iOS does not provide a reliable native writer for it.
How will automatic iCloud backup work?
After setup, FormaMate encrypts the project archive on your device and uploads only the protected file to your iCloud storage. iCloud Drive, a network connection and sufficient iCloud storage are required. The feature is still in development.
What if I forget my backup password?
The encrypted archive cannot be restored without the original password. FormaMate has no recovery key. If you previously saved the password in iCloud Keychain, it may be available on your trusted devices. Never share your password with support.
Are the measurements binding for construction or billing?
No. LiDAR and RoomPlan dimensions are suitable for a quick site survey but do not replace a binding professional survey. Always verify critical dimensions on site with a suitable measuring tool.

When contacting us, include your device model, iOS/iPadOS version, FormaMate version and the steps leading to the issue. Do not send room files, plans, backups or passwords unless they are absolutely necessary for the request.

Room scans and exports are processed locally. FormaMate contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs. Details about the planned password-encrypted iCloud backup are available in the FormaMate Privacy Policy.
