RewindMate runs on Apple TV. The current app interface is in German; the instructions below use the labels you will see on screen.
Try the demo
Without a saved Jellyfin sign-in, the app opens a fictional demo collection. No account or server is required. Demo films share the same short, silent sample clip.
Connect your own library
- Open Menü → Jellyfin verbinden, or Filmsuche → Einstellungen → Jellyfin verbinden.
- Enter your Jellyfin server address, including
https://orhttp://, and your username and password. - Select Videothek öffnen. Your films populate the shelves.
Use HTTPS for an encrypted connection. Your server must be reachable from your Apple TV. RewindMate does not provide films or a Jellyfin server.
Common questions
Jellyfin does not connect, or films are missing
Check the complete server address, network connection and account credentials. Check that the same account can see the films in Jellyfin. Then open Filmsuche → Einstellungen → Jellyfin verwalten → Mediathek aktualisieren. An empty connected library does not display demo films.
A film does not play
Select a case on the shelf to open its details, or press Play/Pause for direct playback. A virtual rental is optional. If playback fails, check server availability, the media format and Jellyfin’s transcoding settings and permissions. Compatibility depends on your files and server configuration.
How do virtual rentals work?
Add a film to your bag, take it to the counter and confirm the rental with your membership card. Return it at the return box. This is part of the video-store experience and creates no payment or real rental transaction. The last 30 rental events remain in your local history, including after a return.
How do I add streaming offers?
Open Menü → Streaming: Filme & Serien → Katalog einrichten, or Filmsuche → Einstellungen → Streamingdienste. Save your own Movie of the Night API key and choose your country and services. Offers then populate the genre shelves automatically. Weitere einräumen adds more titles. For missing offers, check the key, your selection and the provider’s availability and API allowance.
Why does a streaming offer show a QR code?
Bei [Anbieter] ansehen tries to open the provider’s app. If the app cannot handle that link, RewindMate shows a QR code for another device. The provider handles sign-in, playback and any required subscription. Streaming offers do not play through the Jellyfin player and cannot be virtually rented.
How do I connect Seerr?
Open Filmsuche → Einstellungen → Seerr. Enter your own Seerr address and Jellyfin credentials, then choose Bei Seerr anmelden. Set up Seerr in a browser first, connect it to Jellyfin and enable Jellyfin sign-in. Verbindung prüfen checks a saved session. If access fails, check user permissions and the final server address. This currently connects and checks your session; browsing a Seerr catalogue and requesting media are not yet available.
How do I set or change the PIN?
Open Filmsuche → Einstellungen → FSK-18-PIN. Enter four digits, repeat them and choose PIN aktivieren. Changing or disabling the PIN requires the current PIN. After five incorrect attempts, wait 30 seconds. The protected area locks again when you lock it manually or the app enters the background.
I forgot my PIN
Changing or disabling the PIN requires the current PIN. There is currently no PIN recovery function. The developer cannot read your locally stored PIN. Contact support if you need help; support cannot promise to unlock it.
Disconnect accounts and manage local data
In Jellyfin verwalten, select Trennen und Demo öffnen. For streaming, select Zugang entfernen; for Seerr, select Trennen. These actions remove the respective saved local credentials. They do not delete accounts or revoke sessions on your servers.
You can remove films from your bag and return virtual rentals. Returning a film keeps its history entry. There is no single reset button for all app data, and uninstalling alone does not guarantee that Keychain entries are removed.
